The 50th Law hits The New York Times Best Seller's List

Congrats to Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent, his book, "The 50th Law" hit the number 8 spot on the New York Times Best Seller's List for the second week in a row. Is there any chance that this book can replace the Scarface/Tony Montana paraphernalia that's so well loved?! Just asking.

Not So Fast Mr. President

The debate of extending children's schools hours, summer breaks, etc. is an old one. But before we start proposing extensions let's fix the bureaucracy. Then start decreasing the size of the class rooms, reevaluating the content of education, start compensating teachers based on performance and finally offering vouchers. It's a shame that so many good private/religious schools have closed down for lack on enrollment when so many public school children could have filled those seats. On the other hand: Parents/Guardians wake up, speak up! http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2009/09/28/2009-09-28_president_obama_wants_to_keep_kids_in_school_longer_extended_days_weekend_hours_.html

Dannon To Pay $35 Million Dollars in Consumer Settlement Case

Dannon has settled a $35 Million Dollar class action lawsuit stating that the company used false advertising for product lines Activia & DanActive. It was accused of touting health benefits that didn't exist. Part of the settlement indicates that words such as immunity will be removed and instead of using the phrase "a positive effect on your digestive tract's immune system" it will be reworded to say the yogurt will "interact with your digestive tract's immune system." Well doesn't anything you put in your body interact with your digestive tract?! Just asking...Refunds of up to $100.00 will be given to customers who have purchased the products. The settlement is awaiting approval by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. To read more:

Dell Has Been Served: $4 Million Dollar Payout

Dell has been ordered to pay a $4 million dollar lawsuit to New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo in a consumer fraud case. Dell was engaged in fraud, false advertising, deceptive business practices and abusive debt collection practices. Dell engaged in bait and switch advertising with respect to its “no interest” financing promotions, misled consumers to believe they had qualified for promotional financing, failed to adequately disclose the terms of its “next day” service contracts and failed to provide consumers with warranty service and promised rebates. Surprise, surprise. Never was a fan of their computers.
If you are a New York resident and purchased a Dell computer you may be entitled to receive a settlement. For more information visit:

The Worst Customer Service Ever

As I was watching the Real Housewives Of Atlanta, I remembered to post this video showing housewife Sheree in a screaming match, so close to blows, with event planner/producer Anthony Shorter. Sheree asks rhetorically "what happened to customer service?" I must say I was astounded at how a professional (*ahem* a self proclaimed executive according to Mr. Shorter) could behave in such a deplorable manner. This has got to be one of the WORST customer service interactions caught on camera. Apparently, Anthony planned the event gratis. The cost of services for a party of this caliber would've garnered him $60,000.00. This fact still doesn't excuse his behavior, he should've known what he was in for. After the incident he refused to apologize to Sheree and only apologized to Sheree's mother for the insults. SMH.

P.Diddy The Brand That Just Keeps Giving

Resurrection of Autotune? Sean "P.Diddy" Combs has released a video for song Angels by new group Dirty Money comprised of him, Dawn of now defunct girl group Danity Kane and songwriter Keelena. The song is hot (albeit Kanyeish) but the video is too nostalgic not because of Biggie but Dawn and Keelena remind me of former Bad Boy group Total. I guess he's going for street cred but the video's gritty scene is more Puffy than Diddy. Nope I don't care that Hype Williams directed it...Enjoy.

Absolut-ely Loose Off The Goose

The Wall Street Journal reported the declining sales of Absolut Vodka. The dismal sales are being attributed to the recession and the availability of lower cost vodkas such as Skyy & Svedka who have gained market share. Absolut comes in second to Smirnoff who remains #1 in the US. Grey Goose, owned by Bacardi, comes in at #3. If you really want to restore growth do what all the big boys do and acquire the competition or just keep reminding us we're paying more for all natural ingredients and no sugar added as a great reason for consumers to remain loyal lushes. I mean the thought of Purity + Vodka go hand and hand so why not?
On that note, have a fabulous and safe Labor(less) Day weekend!

Pfizer fined a record $2.3 billion dollars...

Ca-ching...Pfizer has entered an agreement with the Department of Justice to pay a record fine in the amount of $2.3 billion dollars. Pfizer was found guilty of misbranding anti-inflammatory drug Bextra which was pulled from shelves by the FDA in 2005. Pfizer promoted the sale of Bextra for several uses and dosages that the FDA specifically declined to approve due to safety concerns. Aside from Baxtra, three other drugs were mentioned in the settlement Geodon, Zyvox, and Lyrica. According to the release on The Department of Justice website, $1 billion will go to Medicare and Medicaid and get this at least $102 million will go to six whistleblowers for assisting with the recovery wth?! The $2.3 billion will resolve civil and criminal complaints held against the company. Wow. For more information visit:
